Storage rack is a huge benefit to warehouse operations therefore it's important to be aware of storage rack safety. Here are a few tips to help guide you.
Beams should not have dents or damage to the beam or connectors.
Beams should not bow or deflect more than 1/4" per 48" of beam length (1/2" for 96", 3/4 for 144" beams...). It's a sign of overloading the capacity of your material.
Capacity labels should be placed on each beam to indicate maximum loads.
Frames should be anchored to the floor, check the footplates for anchors.
Frame component damage to the columns, footplates, and bracing including dents, broken welds, or creases.
Frames can require anywhere from 1-4 anchors per foot plate. Be sure to get seismic analysis completed to ensure proper anchoring of your storage rack and to identify the maximum capacity of your material.
